Marine Tourism and Heritage

Ireland's coasts, communities, and the life beside the sea

About us

Marine Tourism and Heritage is a site dedicated to Ireland's extraordinary relationship with the sea. From the fishing villages of the west coast to the historic harbours of Munster and the maritime traditions of the north, we cover the stories, places, and communities that make Ireland's coastline one of the most compelling in Europe.

We write about coastal heritage sites, boat trips, sea swimming spots, maritime museums, and the quieter pleasures of a walk along a working pier. We are interested in the living culture of coastal Ireland as much as the history books.

Beyond tourism and heritage, we also cover practical life beside the sea. Coastal homes and rural properties face their own particular demands, from wind and weather to the wear that salt air puts on roofs, walls, and driveways. We aim to be useful to people who not only visit Ireland's coastlines but actually live and work along them.

This is a site for anyone who feels the pull of the Irish sea.
